Obama names Edwards as VP!?

Published by aokjunebug91 at 3:49 pm under Politics Edit This

No, not John Edwards. Chet Edwards, the Congressman from Texas’s 17th district, which includes Crawford, President Bush’s official non-presidential residence.

Chet Edwards has been a Texas politician for 25 years, serving as a Texas State Senator from 1983-1990, then a U.S. Congressman from Texas’s 11th district from 1991-2004 before switching residencies to Waco, in the 17th disctrict, and being elected as a Congressman from said district.

Obama’s staff just announced that the short list of VP prospects includes the standard four that myself and many pundits have guessed: Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Tim Kaine and Kathleen Sebelius. However, they added another name to the short list, announcing that  Rep. Chet Edwards was also under consideration.

If Edwards is chosen, it will definitely be a shock to the many pundits whom have dismissed him as small game. Choosing him would not be too unexpected though; Chet Edwards endorsed Obama in February 2008 and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested in June that Chet Edwards would be a good choice for Obama’s VP, though Obama has done no campainging with him, explaining the lack of press information.

Regardless, in a few hours, we should all know who Obama has chosen as his running mate when he announces it by txt msg (text message) to his supporters.
