Does Obama have a chance in Florida?

Published by aokjunebug91 at 1:57 am under Politics Edit This

All statistics that try to give Obama an advantage in November are simply made up. Even Florocrats (Florida Democrats) admit that “On paper, [McCain’s] a nearly ideal candidate for Florida”(Smith) and agree that “[Republican Gov.] Crist and his team will leave no stone unturned mobilizing McCain voters”(Smith).
The only statistic that gives vague hope to Obama winning Florida is that since 2000, “the Democrats’ net registration advantage has grown by more than 100,000”(Smith), meaning that since 2000 came down to 537 votes, if Obama does at least as well as Gore he has a good chance of winning Florida. But Floridians tend to trust old white men like McCain more than anyone else, so Obama is still fighting an uphill battle in Florida.

Smith, Adam C. “Note to Sen. Obama: Wake up and smell the change in Florida.” 17 May 2008. 10 August 2008. <http://tampabay.com/news/politics/state/article510039.ece>.

Oh, Florida. You’re making it harder and harder for Democrats to like you.
