The latest issue of The New Yorker depicts Barack Obama in the White House in traditional Muslim gab whilst performing a “terrorist fist bump” with his wife, Michelle, whom has an AK-47 strapped to her back. As well, an American flag is burning in the fire place and a portrait of Osama Bin Laden hangs on the wall in the place of Lincoln’s portrait.

First of all, let’s get one thing straight: The New Yorker thought the cartoon would be taken as satirically and light-heartedly poking fun at the craziness of the concerns about Obama.

I must admit, the cartoon is obviously satirical. It’s saying, “Isn’t it funny that people think of this when they think of Obama?”

But the cartoon, in a strange twist of irony that the cartoonist probably hadn’t thought of (though it’s rather obvious) INVOKES THE IMAGE OF OBAMA BEING AN UNPATRIOTIC TERRORIST!!! Simply by publishing the Fox News truthiness, The New Yorker has not only stooped to Fox’s level, but has reinforced the stereotypical image of Obama for millions of American voters.
