Kerry Me Home: “Flip-flops are in season”

Published by aokjunebug91 at 10:45 pm under Politics Edit This

In 2004, John Kerry briefly courted John McCain for the VP post. Now, the former Democratic presidential candidate has lent the current Republican nominee a pair of summer flip-flops.

The two Johns met in March of 2004, briefly trading long meaningful glances across the crowded ballroom floor as McCain condemned his party for its unjustified attacks on Kerry…and Kerry swooned, hoping McCain would take the VP bait and form a bipartisan ticket to beat Bush.

“How they danced in the courtyard/Sweet summer sweat/Some dance to remember/Some dance to forget”–Hotel California by The Eagles.

Kerry now says that this season, it’s the Republican nominee who’s wearing the flip-flops:

“John McCain has changed in profound and fundamental ways that I find personally really surprising, and frankly upsetting. […] This is want-to-be president John McCain. The result is that John McCain has flip-flopped on more issues than I was even ever accused possibly of thinking about.”
